About the Client
Through its American Hospital, VetAmerikan, and Arkadaşım Diyabet brands, Koç Healthcare is one of Türkiye's leading healthcare organizations. A significant share of essential services—including booking appointments, accessing laboratory results, communicating with doctors, and managing chronic conditions—is now delivered through websites and mobile applications.
When access to healthcare is at stake, making digital channels independently usable by everyone is a fundamental requirement rather than a corporate preference.
The Challenge
A regulatory timetable for healthcare organizations
Presidential Circular No. 2025/10 on the Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications, published in Türkiye's Official Gazette on 21 June 2025, requires organizations including private hospitals to make their websites and mobile applications conform to the Level A Checklist for the Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications and WCAG 2.2 within one year.
Digital accessibility consequently became a time-bound and measurable compliance priority for Koç Healthcare.
Three brands and six platforms
The scope extended beyond a single application:
- The American Hospital website and mobile application
- The VetAmerikan website and mobile application
- The Arkadaşım Diyabet website and mobile application
Each platform had its own users, content structure, and technology stack. An accessibility barrier in a chronic-condition management application such as Arkadaşım Diyabet could directly affect a person's daily health management.
Traditional methods could not provide speed and coverage together
Manually testing all journeys across six platforms with people from different disability groups could take weeks. Koç Healthcare's QA teams already had a comprehensive regression test suite, but those scenarios did not cover assistive technology use such as screen readers, keyboard navigation, or magnification.
The need was to make accessibility testing a natural part of the existing QA process without abandoning established practices.
The Approach
Binclusive embedded accessibility testing into the discipline already familiar to the QA teams: transforming existing test cases into disabled-user journeys, automatically running those journeys with assistive technologies, and enabling the teams to implement fixes in their own development environments.
1. Transforming regression tests into disabled-user journeys
Binclusive converted Koç Healthcare's existing regression tests into journeys reflecting the experiences of disabled people. Functional scenarios such as booking an appointment, viewing a laboratory result, and updating a profile were rewritten from the perspectives of people using a screen reader, navigating exclusively by keyboard, or using magnification because of low vision.
The QA teams gained accessibility coverage while preserving the test structure they already knew.
2. Automated testing through the Binclusive usability testing platform
The Binclusive usability testing platform enabled Koç Healthcare's teams to test their applications automatically with assistive technologies including VoiceOver, TalkBack, screen readers, and keyboard navigation.
The Binclusive testing agent, which simulates disabled-user behavior, ran the transformed journeys quickly and comprehensively across all six platforms. Focus loss, unlabelled components, unreadable error messages, and journeys that could not be completed were reported by platform.
This approach reduced a testing cycle that could have taken weeks using traditional methods to a matter of days.
3. Applying fixes directly in code with AI skills
Koç Healthcare's engineering teams used Binclusive AI skills to implement code changes for the accessibility issues identified. Rather than waiting for an external team, developers applied fixes in their own codebases and development tools.
4. Verification through follow-up tests
After the changes, the same journeys were rerun with the testing agent to verify each platform's accessibility. Before-and-after comparisons made resolved issues and remaining risks clearly visible.
Results
Six platforms transformed in two weeks
Testing, development, and verification were completed across all six platforms in approximately two weeks. Converting existing tests into accessibility journeys and introducing automation delivered speed without sacrificing coverage.
Accessibility improvements communicated in app-store release notes
Koç Healthcare's App Store release notes state that the application was improved in line with accessibility standards, made easier and more inclusive to use, and enhanced for overall performance and user experience.

VetAmerikan's Google Play release notes similarly communicate work on accessibility standards, easier and more inclusive use, and improved performance and user experience.

Accessibility aligned with regulatory requirements
The American Hospital, VetAmerikan, and Arkadaşım Diyabet platforms were improved in line with the accessibility requirements of Presidential Circular No. 2025/10.
A sustainable testing model
Accessibility did not remain a one-off project:
- Koç Healthcare teams continue to use the Binclusive testing tool throughout the year to test new development with assistive technologies.
- Binclusive's team of disabled users tests the platforms four times a year, reporting experience issues that automation may not detect.
A tangible improvement in user experience
“As a Koç Group employee, I used to have difficulty using the American Hospital application. I can now use it comfortably without any problems. Thank you for your work!”

Are Your Digital Channels Accessible to Everyone?
The compliance timetable under Presidential Circular No. 2025/10 is moving forward for private hospitals and other covered organizations. Digital accessibility is both a condition of meeting accessibility standards and a foundation for more independent access to healthcare.
As in our work with Koç Healthcare, Binclusive transforms existing QA processes into accessibility testing, enables teams to test applications with assistive technologies, and makes accessibility a lasting part of development.
